Whose Play Is It Anyway?
A collection of short, student written plays UNSW offers a variety of script and play writing courses where students spend a term developing short, 10-15 minute plays, but rarely is there an opportunity to showcase them. Hence, Whose Play Is It Anyway? These four plays presented were written, directed, staged, and performed entirely by students! |
Rossum's Universal Robots
Written by Karel Čapek with revisions by Martin Gallagher Rossum’s Universal Robot Factory creates robots. The perfect labour force, robots are not born but instead are meticulously crafted out of flesh and blood by the handful of engineers and scientists that work in the factory. When Robot Rights activist Helena visits and becomes entangled in the lives of the scientists, the line between master and worker is turned on its head. As the metal boots come crashing down and humanity is coming to an end, the burning question remains, what is it that really makes us human? R.U.R, the gripping sci-fi play that first coined the term Robot, remains funny, clever and more poignant than ever for a modern audience. Directed by Angus Crampton, produced by Rachael Adamson |
NUTS & Bolts - The Great Indoors
Written by NUTS Members It's that time year folks. Yep, that's right, our annual sketch comedy show Nuts and Bolts 2021 is well on it's way to show week and you'd better buckle up for one hell of a ride. These guys have been working very hard and (very) fast to bring you a chaotic string of gags and giggles over the last week and it's going to be a doozy. Written in a couple of days, rehearsed in just one week and funded on tenners, don't miss out! For three nights only, get ready to laugh, cry, gasp or go 'huh?' at the craziest nights of the year in the great OUTDOORS. Co-directors: Anaya Vora and Roy Wallace-Cant |
Unfortunately due to the compulsory cessation of nonessential activities from mid June due to a COVID-19 resurgence, all in person NUTS events were postponed. This unfortunately included a production of Embers by Campion Decent, directed by Jo Bradley and the cancellation of Joseph K by Tom Basden, directed by Jordan Barnes which were both late in the rehearsal stage. Also postponed was Legally Blonde the Musical, set to be directed by Diego Garcia for the 2020 major which was in the process of auditioning.
