The Start of Session Social!

When: Friday 12th March, 8pm
Where: The Saints Hotel
              384 Oxford Street Paddington

So Guys it's that time again. NUTS beginning of year social!

Its going to be a great way to meet new members and have a few drinks with friends you may have made in Domestic or plan to meet in NUTS.

Yes there will be a bar tab! And food!

It's close to busses and trains, and right next to the city, so even if you're crazy popular on that night you can pop by in your way to/from other things.

See you there!

The NUTS EGM - Thu 11th March

When: Thursday 11th March, 5pm

Where: Studio One

Wanna have a say in the running of your society? Then come along to the EGM! This year we’ll not only be electing our first year representatives, but there is also a spot open on the committee as Publicity Officer. Come along to run, or to cast your vote, either way you can make a difference to NUTS this year!

  • First Year Representatives: f you’re a first year and would like to be part of the committee this year, you can run for a position. There are two spot for first years, and it’s a great way to get a feel for how the society is run! Your job is to be a friendly point of contact for other first years wanting to get into NUTS, and to be a part of decisions like which shows we put on this year…fun right!
  • Publicity Officer: If you’re passionate about NUTS and want  to see us do bigger and better things this year, then this is the role for you! The Publicity Officer makes sure everybody is talking about the wonderful things we are doing. They make sure shows know what to do to get audiences, and they have the freedom to create new and wonderful ways to get the word out. Of course they also get a hand in all the decisions regarding the shows and events we will be running this year! Sounds grrooovy.

This meeting will start promptly on time so we can clear the space for the final night of our razzamataz show Domestic.
See you there!

WELCOME TO NUTS!

Welcome to new Nutters, and welcome back to old! We're super excited to have you on board for 2010, as it's going to be a spectacular year of NUTS! =)

This year we're stoked to be celebrating our 25th Anniversary. NUTS was founded in 1985, on the premise that students should be able to express themselves creatively in an environment that is welcoming, experimental, educational, and above all FUN! This year we hope to carry out these ideals, and provide you guys with some great new opportunities. I've spent my holidays scouring the archives to figure out what we've been doing right, what great traditions we might have lost along the way, and how we can use our experiences over the last 25 years to make 2010 a nuttastic year.

We've got eight shows scheduled for this year, including a joint production with our bro Studio Four, and our annual Major production which will this year be held in our beloved Fig Tree Theatre! Fig Tree is a wonderful heritage-listed site, which used to be home to NIDA and has seen NUTS through countless productions since 1986. We lost access to this space in 2007, while it was in the midst of a construction site. So we feel blessed to be back in Fig Tree again, and hope it remains this way for many years to come!

As well as shows (fun as they may be!), we want to give you guys opportunities to build you skills, perform and learn without having to be involved in a production. We want you to feel like you have the support of trained professionals who can help you prepare for the industry, or just use your passion for theatre to your best advantage. Let us know if there are any particular workshops or speakers you're dying to see happen this year. Student theatre should be a playing ground for you to gain confidence and meet a great bunch of like-minded people who will not only be wonderful friends, but a support network for your future creative projects.

If you're still wondering what we're all about, have a look at the information on this website. We've got everything from how to propose a show, to how to make glue (believe us it will come in handy...) Or come along to our first event or show to get a feel for what we do. You'll be receiving regular emails about what's coming up.
If you want to know more about a specific area of NUTS, or are keen to get your name in the books straight away, visit the Committee, we're always keen to get your emails.

See you soon Nutters, looking forward to 2010! =)

NUTS President 2010

The NUTS Archive Project

Hi every boy and every girl and people of the world. It's time to spice up your life. And by that I mean it's time to contribute to a monumental movement of archival triumph!

NUTS is working like a busy bee to get an Archives page up and running on our website so that the impressionable young noobs can stare wide eyed at your accomplishments. And the veterans can forever relive the good times. This will be a huge undertaking as our society has over two decades of history, but it will be great to be able to show it off!

We are appealing to all of you who have ever been involved in a NUTS show, to let us know about it!

We have a purpose built email address for you: archives@nuts.org.au

We are looking for any or all of the following info:

1. Name of the show
2. Venue
3. Show Dates
4. Synopsis
5. Production Team
6. Crew
7. Cast
8. Any NUTS Awards

Any tiny scrap of info will help. You can also just hit us up with any fun trivia about the production, or cherished memories!! They will be included, so the more embarrassing the better (no law suits please).

PLUS, you can email any of your NUTS/show photos to that address. They will become part of an awesome photo-archiving project that will contribute to the online archives. (or if you have a flickr account, stay tuned for how you can continue to dynamically contribute to the archives...)

Make sure you spread the word ! Share this with any of your old NUTS friends, directors, producers, casties, especially those that might not be around anymore to get this message. The older shows are going to be the hardest to document unless we follow the links back.

BE PROUD and email us about the shows you were involved in, even if you think someone else will. (They probably wont. Unless they're thinking like you...in which case...they will. But do it anyway.)

Nuts out.
