2019
"I've had so much fun working with all of you talented people this year on some absolutely amazing, hilarious, gripping and just super fun shows, and I'm pretty sure that you all have as well. After all, if we're all gonna die in a climate apocalypse in 12 years, we may as well spend what little time we do have left doing what we love with people that share that love."

A hilarious group of both old and new Nutters unveil the mysteries of ‘The NUTS Files’ in a sketch comedy show written entirely by members of the society. Are we alone in the universe? Did Bush really do 9/11? Do people in toothpaste ads use way more than they actually need to in order to encourage us to use and therefore buy more toothpaste than WE need?? The Boys
Written by Gordon Graham In the wake of a brutal murder, a family of women grapples with the violence, cruelty and misogyny exhibited by the men in their lives. Gordon Graham’s The Boys is still painfully pertinent in 2019, and its themes of violence, entitlement and toxic masculinity remain poignant and worryingly relevant. Set in suburban Australia, this intense play focuses on the impact men’s hate and violence has on the women they love. In the first ever production in the revamped Studio One, a vibrant cast explores the ever-present sexism within Australian society. Directed and Produced by Isabella Olsen and Liam Jarvis |
God of Carnage
Written by Yasmina Reza, Translated by Christopher Hampton When a playground fight between boys results in a broken tooth, four parents come together to discuss the ramifications. Over the course of one contentious and confrontational afternoon, these two couples realise how deeply unhappy they are in their marriages, and, by extension, their lives. A dark tragi-comedy about marriage and parenthood, God of Carnage tears apart themes of humanity, tradition and masculinity in an explosive ninety minutes. Directed and Produced by Jo Bradley and Imogen Barker |
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

From lisps to magic feet to deep abandonment issues, these kids’ colourful personalities and quirky spelling techniques help them through the bee. As the words tested become more difficult and the spellers (and audience participants!) get eliminated one-by-one, the competition truly heats up! Who will win??? NUTS' first major musical in the new Io Myers theatre at the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab! Directed and Produced by Jordan Barnes and Sophie Giese |
The Real Inspector Hound
Written by Tom Stoppard "The audience genuinely enjoyed every minute, - each joke being met with guffaws of laughter and some literal knee-slapping from the more zealous patrons" - Bella Thompson, Theatre Travels You are trying to watch a hilarious murder mystery where the usual players (love interests, mysterious strangers and the maid) are cut off from the world in a mansion - but the theatre critics in the audience won’t shut up. One of them seems to be having an ongoing existential crisis. You begin to wonder why no-one notices the body lying onstage. The Real Inspector Hound is a tantalising, self critical exploration of the boundaries of theatre and performance! Directed and Produced by Diego Garcia and Rachael Adamson |
