The committee is the backbone of NUTS. The team that is constantly working hard, organising events and making decisions. Members who want to have a hand in the running of the society can step up into a committee role and join the team that makes it all happen. The roles that make up the NUTS committee are as follows:
The president is the official representative of the society to the members and external parties. Their main jobs entail ensuring that the everyone on committee is doing their part to make the society run in the best way possible, and overseeing and coordinating activities and administration of the club. During committee meetings, the president acts as chairperson, ensuring it runs smoothly and the relevant discussions are had.
Secretary is responsible for receiving and responding to outside correspondence, organising and minute-taking at meetings and keeping club documents in order (minutes, agendas, contracts, etc). They are also responsible for maintaining an up-to-date membership list and the NUTS newsletters.
The treasurer’s responsibilities are to ensure that the club’s finances are in order. This includes maintaining and organising financial records, ensuring reimbursements go through, helping with fundraising and front of house, and working with producers to ensure show teams stick to budget. They also ensure that financial transactions only occur as directed by committee.
The Arc Delegate deals with everything between NUTS and Arc. This includes room bookings, grant applications, keeping the OrgSync page up to date, attending Arc Clubs meetings and ensuring that meetings and events comply with Arc’s requirements.
Technical & Backstage Officer
The Technical Officer is responsible for maintaining and organising the Barn, overseeing access to the storage facility, as well as ensuring the NUTS toolbox and NUTS cupboards are kept organised and well stocked. They also ensure that club members are given opportunities to build skills through technical skill workshops. Finally, they must work with show teams to assist the Stage Manager and technical team to safely organise and coordinate the show.
Costume & Properties Officer
The Costume Officer is responsible for maintaining and organising the Costume Room, and overseeing the loaning, use and return of NUTS costumes and props. They also are encouraged to engage NUTS members with conducting workshops in costuming, props and design.
The Events Officer coordinates and organises all clubs events including social events, workshops and excursions to other productions. They also organise the NUTS calendar, ensuring that there are no clashes between NUTS production schedule and other events.
The Publicity Officer ensures that all productions are appropriately advertised by working with production teams publicity persons, and promote both NUTS as a society and NUTS events by utilising social media channels and by fostering external connections.
Vice President (elected from committee)
The Vice President, elected from the committee, will assist the President with their duties where required and in the absence of the President, chair meetings held in that term.
Grievance Officer (elected from committee)
The two Grievance Officers, elected from the committee, are to be the primary point of contact for any members who have issues within NUTS-run or affiliated events and productions. They are to ensure that any issues are treated seriously and anonymously, and make sure they are accessible to members. Our grievance policy is available here.
