WAR CRIMES
| Studio One, UNSW
| 24th - 28th May, 2016 | Written by Angela Betzien | Directed by Rosie Niven | Produced by Carly Fisher One morning Jade wakes bruised and bleeding on the beach. She thinks she’s alone, that no one will know, but someone was watching from the cave above the cliffs. Set in a forgotten coastal town, War Crimes tells the gripping story of five teenage girls who have fallen through the gaping cracks of society, fighting to earn their respect and leave their mark by whatever means possible.
Written by Angela Betzien (The Dark Room, Mortido), the play is an unapologetic heavy-handed and unsubtle exploration of issues directly affecting young women domestically and across the world. War Crimes does not simply tell it like it is, it shows you the world through the eyes of five young women society hadn't paid attention to. Until now. |
